Dear Theatrewallah's
September is
here, which means if you aren't grooving to the Ganpati drums, you are looking
for a way to shut them out. And what better way to do that than a trip to your
local theatre. But remember, leave early so that you get there on time!!!
The month sees some regular
hits like 'Vagina Monologues', and Rangbaaz's 'Bade Miyan Deewane' along with
returning productions like Rage's 'Mahua' and IPTA's 'Tajmahal ka Tender'.
There's stuff for children too with 'James Aur ek Giant Peach' & 'Tunni Ki
Kahani' at the Prithvi and 'Ramayana' at the Canvas Laughter Club. Premiering
this month is Silly Point's 'The Buckingham Secret' and the Kalki Koechlin
starrer 'Solo Act on Womanhood'
At QTP, September is 'our season'. So we are presenting all our 4 current plays over 4 days at the Prithvi Theatre!!! Fresh from a successful tour of South India A Peasant of El Salvador returns to Bombay, with laugh riots Project S.T.R.I.P. and Nostalgia Brand Chewing Gum back as well. Importantly Jayati Bhatia completes ten years of playing Khatijabai of Karmali Terrace which will also perform at the Turf Club in Pune. If you haven't seen these plays, we hope to see you at these shows. If you have, and have liked them, please spread the word!!!
September also means that Thespo 16 has shifted to third gear, as plays are registering thick and fast with the deadline fast approaching, plus a workshop for Kaleidoscope 2014! Thespo at Prithvi,, this month is a 'mini festival' of sorts: there is a workshop on direction by the prolific Akarsh Khurana, platform performances and the soul stirring and beautiful 'Baawla'. And if you thought your calendar wasn't full enough, then join us for our our monthly Great Text reading on the 25th of the month!! (Yes, we're theatre crazy!)
