The Script, Edition 7 - July 2014

Dear Theatrewallah's,

July has begun with some startling news for the theatre world. Zohra Sehgal, the grand dame of the Indian stage passed away on 10th July 2014. She was a 102. She lived a full live, on her own terms, and thrilling people across the country and world with her brilliant performances. She will be deeply missed. We at QTP have a special place for her in our heart, as her recitation of "Abhi To Main Jawan Hoon" at her Thespo Lifetime Achievement Award Presentation will always ring in our year. Aapa, we hope we can be worthy of the torch that you carried tirelessly for so many years.

On the theatre front:

Although the World Cup wraps up this week, the roller coaster of emotions can be replaced with many a cathartic evening at the theatre for the rest of July.

The children's theatre season winds up with with 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' & 'Beauty and the Beast' at the Canvas Laugh Factory and the premiere of the musical extravaganza 'Panchatantra' at the Sophia College Auditorium.

Big hits return with 'Hamlet - The Clown Prince', Motley's 'A Walk in the Woods' and 'Ismat Aapa Ke Naam Part 2' and IPTA's 'Simla Coffee House'. Plus Sunil Shanbag repackages 'Club Desire' with an all new cast, and Essay Communications premiers 'Tajmahal ka Udghaatan'.
