The Script, Edition 4 - April 2012

The Heat is On!! And the summer break is here. The city is buzzing with workshops and performances for children – Registrations are on for Thespo’s Dramabaazi, ‘Summertime at Prithvi'…..oops, I mean Junoon’s ‘Arts at Play’, NCPA’s ‘Summer Fiesta’ and Ekjute’s Young Talent Workshop! The grown-ups have a lot to look forward to – the Akvarious repertory performs for a whole week at Prithvi, Ace Productions ‘The Sound of Music’ returns to the NCPA, Vikram Kapadia stages ‘Bombay Talkies’ and much more!

We at QTP have our hands full with the return of Dramabaazi! Aimed at 8-12 year olds, this play-shop will culminate in performances at the Prithvi Theatre in June. Last date for registrations April 10th.  And plans move forward on A Tale Retold – QTP members are off to the South Bank Centre London (fingers crossed on the visa front!) for an exciting multi-disciplinary collaboration with folk bands The Raghu Dixit Project and Bellowhead along with choreographer Gauri Sharma Tripathi. Our monthly event Thespo at Prithvi sees the return of Naali Ke Kutte and the Great Texts Reading will be on the 30th of April.

Last month we kicked off our new production Kora with a poetry reading at Prithvi. Click here for a sneak peek. We are on the look out for actors, dancers and musicians, so if you are interested mail your details to casting@qtp.in. The play is scheduled to open later this year in September. Also this month we have started a brand new section, Links we Like, where we share with you some interesting articles from the vast world of theatre. The Globe to Glove festival kicks off this month in London to commemorate Shakespeare's birthday (23 April). Our very own Company Theatre will be performing 'The Twelft Night' (Hindi) on 27 and 28 April to join the celebrations.

Our last months quiz question was: When you are standing still in a scene and you look like you are in a photograph, what is it called? We had many different answers. And guess what? EVERYONE WAS RIGHT!! It can be called a tableau, a freeze frame and a still image.

Here's what you can look forward to this month:
