                                                           Inlaks Theatre Awards 2012


The Inlaks India Foundation invites applications for the selection of Inlaks Theatre Awards 2012. The deadline for receiving applications for the Awards is October 15, 2011.

The Inlaks India Foundation has been involved in the identifying and supporting exceptional talents in various areas of study like humanities, science, social science, fashion design, visual arts, music and sports. The Foundation awards scholarships for outstanding students for higher studies abroad, as well as within the country. For the past several years, the Foundation has successfully supported theatre artistes within the country. This year again the Foundation will make Awards in the field of Theatre.

About the Award:



  • The Award is wirth Rs. 8000/- per month for the period of one year, paid quaterly. The continuation of the Award will depend in the quarterly progrees report submitted by the recepient as well as the Guru / Guide / Head of Institution under whom the applicant intend to work for a year.
  • The number of Awards could vary betweent 2 - 3, depending on the merit of the applications received.
  • The selection procedure will take place in two rounds. The written application and reference letters will be the major criterion for the first round. The short - listed candidates will be then expected to appear in front of the selection committee for an audition for the final selection.
Conditions for Applications:
  • The applicant should be a recent graduate / post-graduate from a leading Indian institute for theatre arts in India. Applicants not having a formal degree but possessing a record of high quality of record of past achievements may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  • The recipient should not hold a similar / government scholarship or award during the tenure of the Inlaks Theatre Award.
  • He / She should be below the age of 30 years on December 31st in the year of application.
Please send: (Note: All written material should be clearly legible and preferably type written). 


  • An application on plain paper may be sent with details of name, educational qualifications, contact address, permanent address, and evidence of date of birth.
  • A brief essay giving details of present occupation and achievements to date. (Not more than 300 words).
  • The applicant's special need for the award and what he/she proposes to do with the award money. (Not more that 300 words).
  • Letter of acceptance from Guru/Guide/Institution under whom, the applicant intends to work for a year.
  • Reference letters from three eminent theatre persons who can vouch for the applicant.
  • A CD / DVD with a sample of the applicant's work. We will require 2 copies of this CD / DVD.

The Rang Shankara Theatre Fest '11

Oct 16, and Oct 21-23 (Four days, eight to ten hours each day)

The Ranga Shankara Theatre Fest ’11 is here and so is the “Theatre and Arts Appreciation Course”. Woven around the festival, the course involves watching and debating plays of the Fest, interactive sessions with eminent artistes, directors, writers, painters, and musicians for debating the nuances of arts appreciation. Previous years have seen interactions with Girish Karnad, Satyadev Dubey, U R Anantamurthy, Ratan Thiyam, Aruna Sayeeram, T M Krishna, Suresh Jayaram, Navroze Contractor, Pushpamala N, Leela Samson, Bombay Jayashri, and Anand Patwardhan, to quote a few.

Course fee: Rs. 5000, Students: Rs. 1000 (part-time students pay Rs. 5000)
