NCPA Ananda: Hindi Natya Utsav at Experimental Theatre from 6th to 8th May 2011
In Mumbai, Hindi theatre has involved and been developed by some of the best talents – from the socially relevant theatre of Prithviraj Kapoor and the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), the memorable writings of Mohan Rakesh and Dharmvir Bharti, to the experimental works of Satyadev Dubey and Sunil Shanbag.
Over the last 35 years, groups like Ank, Yatri, Ekjute have been working consistently to nurture Hindi theatre, in spite of competition from Bollywood, satellite television and other mediums of popular culture. Playwrights like Makrand Deshpande, Manav Kaul and recent entrants Purva Naresh and Trishla Patel, have enriched Hindi theatre. Groups like Motley, Ansh, Aaranya, Akvarious, Ranga Theatre, Rangbaaz, Rangshila, Aarambh, T-Pot and others have kept the spirit of creativity and adventure alive.
NCPA Ananda presents a selection from Mumbai’s Hindi theatre at its best and most joyous and, most importantly, with its roots in Indian literature.
Ananda means happiness or pleasure. The NCPA Ananda: Hindi Natya Utsav presents a selection of delightful Hindi plays by Pawan Uttam, Imran Rasheed’s young group, Rangbaaz, the oldest theatre group in India, IPTA and Om Katare’s popular group Yatri — covering a spectrum of genres and generations.

Indigo Kids Edutainment that specializes in producing childrens plays (adult cast), and touring international shows. For the 2011 season September to October we will be touring our existing production "Snow White & The Naughty Eleves"to Bangalore, Calcutta, Pune, and Delhi,(the show has already played four sold out performances in Mumbai). Also in 2011 we are casting for The Ramayan (english) and a Xmas production. We would like to know if you can help us find cast members.
