WORKSHOPS:

Abhinaya - National Theatre Festival 2010:
Abhinaya is a Competition of Short Plays in Hindi, Kannada and English, promoted and organized by Jain University - CMS, Bangalore since 2008.

With an ardent desire to harness potential in youth, Jain University – CMS envisaged Abhinaya as a powerful platform to showcase thespian talent and passionate expression. The Festival welcomes colleges, amateur and non professional groups from all over India to participate in `Abhinaya.

No entry fee is charged. Abhinaya will profile the best in youthful theatre. From 1st to 7th of February 2010, ‘Abhinaya’ will host the preliminaries, the pre-finals and the finals of a glorious Theater Fest that celebrates the diversity of India.

On 23rd and 24th January 2010 a preliminary round of selection for Mumbai will be done.

Theatre Professionals Acting Workshops:
Yuki Ellias (LeCoq, Paris, LISPA, London) conducts another remarkable one day workshop exploring the idea of Violence in Performance - actors will explore the violent body, comic violence, and symbolic and metaphorical representations of violence.

Sankar Venkateshwaran (TTRP, Singapore, Artistic Director of Theatre Roots and Wings) comes to Mumbai to intensively work with actors to become autonomous performers. Sankar brings many years of international training and experience into the class room. Past participants rate Sankar's workshops as some of the most rewarding that TPPL has ever offered.

Geetanjali Kulkarni(National School of Drama) An accomplished stage actress, Geetanjali explores the fundamentals behind performance in great depth.Elements of Physical training, Speech & Voice training and Text work. Natya Ranga at NCPA:
NCPA in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs has scheduled 'Natya Ranga' - a 10 day festival from 22nd - 31st of January 2010.

As a part of programme, Sanget Natak Akademy will present traditional theatre forms at the Tata Theatre: 23 Jan - Yakshagana, 24 Jan - Bhand Pather & Shumang Leela, 25 Jan - Nautanki.

This will be followed by Karyashalla workshops on the next day between 11am - 1pm at the Little Theatre and will include discussions on the background and conventions of the forms and also their techniques of presentations.
