Kalaripayattu is the ancient martial art form of Kerala. Today, it is gaining recognition as a useful and rigorous training for all performers who use their bodies as an instrument, especially dancers and actors. In this short but intense 10 day workshop, Belraj Soni introduces the basic stances, exercises, kicks and techniques of Kalaripayattu, particularly intended to provide a new perspective on movement for dancers, actors, athletes or anyone interested in challenging their bodies in a new way!

Belraj Soni who will be conducting these sessions has been trained intensively in the Gurukula tradition at the Vallabhatta Kalari Sangham, Chavvakad.  Soni has specialised in weapons training and healing techniques. A university champion, he has conducted several training sessions and performed extensively across India.

Theatre Professionals is pleased to announce a one-day master class - Working with Stanislavski’s Physical Actions, taught by John Bashford (Vice Principle of LAMDA).

This workshop will explore Stanislavski’s method of working with physical actions through text analysis, active analysis, improvisation and actioning. Participants will learn how to define scene objectives for their characters and the connection between these to their immediate objectives. Through the application of exercises we will find ways to use action to explore and release the emotional life within a scene.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn form the Vice Principle of LAMDA one of the foremost drama schools in the world. John brings to this workshop his endless experience in the theatre from all around the world.
